Take care in Dubrovnik
Arriving at your holiday destination is exciting and most people immediately go and explore the city, visit the beach or famous sites. Dubrovnik is not a dangerous place but there are still things you should take care of to make sure you stay healthy and sound during your vacation:
Escaping the crowds
Love Dubrovnik but want to avoid the crowds? There are several locations around the city where you can stay during your Dubrovnik visit or where you can escape to for a day trip.
Dubrovnik Today: People and customs
With its thousands of years of complex history, Dubrovnik today is a town that blends old and new in its own unique way. Although hundreds of thousands of visitors come to Dubrovnik each year, it remains essentially a quiet, small town, whose residents know each other well.
Prevent Summer Holiday Health Woes
While a holiday is a time for relaxation and recuperation, it can also be a trigger for illness and health problems due to sudden changes in climate and diet, as well as increased levels of stress and dehydration from traveling.
Taking a Stroll
Walk the walk
Strolling, promenading or just plain walking call it what you will but the locals of the Old City of Dubrovnik have their own special word and their own special reasons for promenading. It’s called a “Đir” and literally translated it means circle or in a verb form to circle.
How to have a happy, healthy holiday
Most of us love being outside in the summertime, especially if it’s nice and hot. Sunshine not only makes everything look better, it makes us feel good too. Don’t forget though that the ultraviolet (UV) rays in the sunlight can damage the cells in your body. It is especially important to avoid getting burnt by the sun.
Finding your Spot in the Sun
Many of us now consider moving abroad when we retire and somewhat surprisingly a sizeable proportion of those who do think about it actually take the plunge. The traditional locations are Spain, Malta, the south of France and other Mediterranean countries that have a good climate with lots of unbroken sunshine. However, other locations are now becoming more popular.
Islands in Numbers
The Adriatic Sea got its name from an ancient port of the same name. The Adriatic spans from the Balkan to the Apennine peninsula. The part belonging to the Republic of Croatia is the east coast which extends all the way from Prevlaka in the south to cape Savudrija in the west, including all islands, islets and cliffs along the coast, and the archipelago of Palagruza.
Clean Croatia
Croatia is among the 20 cleanest countries in the world. The renowned American magazine Forbes published a list of the world's cleanest countries, ranked according to an index developed by Columbia and Yale Universities, with Croatia ranking 20th on the global scale and first in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
I see the sign
Dotted around the whole city of Dubrovnik are notice boards announcing all kinds of information. These notice boards have become part of the Dubrovnik fabric of life and are extremely well observed. They are used to announce upcoming events and as well as advertising local companies.
