Getting to Dubrovnik by sea

alt Dubrovnik has a long history with the sea and all things maritime. The city is well connected with regular ferry services to local islands and international destinations. There are daily, and in some cases hourly, services operating to nearby islands.

Local ferry routes:

The vast majority of ferries operate from the Port of Dubrovnik (Gruž harbour).

The harbour in the old city is mainly reserved for tourist boat trips and for cruise ship tenders. The Gruž harbour is approximately 2 kilometres from the old city and there is a regular bus service as well as a taxi rank. Dubrovnik has daily routes to the local islands including Koločep, Lopud, Šipan, Mljet, Korčula and Lastovo. As well as the islands you can also catch a ferry to Croatian cities such as Rijeka, Split, Hvar and Zadar.

Distance by sea:

Rijeka – Dubrovnik – 279 nm

Split – Dubrovnik – 84 nm

Zadar – Dubrovnik – 169 nm

The majority of these services are operated by the Jadrolinija Company

International ferry routes:

Dubrovnik is connected with a regular ferry service to Bari in Italy. This service is run on a daily basis through the summer months. The journey takes around ten hours so it is recommended to travel overnight.
