Montenegro
Montenegro is a country of climbing mountains, lush woodland, unspoilt beaches and stone architecture. The land is wild and dramatic, snow covered mountains plunge down to sandy beaches. Whilst in Dubrovnik Montenegro is within easy reach and well worth the visit.
Just an hour from Dubrovnik, Montenegro will amaze you. The jewels in the crown of this small Mediterranean county are the medieval towns of Budva, Kotor and the breathtaking Saint Stefan. Montenegro is in many ways one of the jewels of the Mediterranean, serene beaches, rushing rivers, clear lakes, wooden hills, the natural beauties of the country are second to none. And combined with the ancient cities and stunning architecture Montenegro has it all, all in one small country, a blessed country.
Kotor is one of the highlights of a trip to Montenegro. This historic old city has been recognised by UNESCO and is a member of the “World Heritage Sites”. Then Budva, one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic, another remarkably untouched city on the sea. And finally onto St. Stefan, a unique city, a city on a half island which is cut off from the mainland during high tides. An ancient walled city that sparkles on the clear Adriatic Sea, this is a “must see” for all visitors to Montenegro.
Montenegro literally translated means “black mountains” and these forbidding mountains will follow you every step of the way during your time in the country. Just an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik it’s a journey that you’ll never forget. Once visited never forgotten – Montenegro.
Afterwards our journey reaches Budva, one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic, according to legend founded by Kadmo, son of the fenician king Agenon. We will make a tour of the town and of the quite interesting local fair.
Lastly we visit St. Stefan, an amazing town, an island during the duration of high water and a peninsula while low water takes it rule. St. Stefan area is famous for its sandy beaches and there we will be able to enjoy the swim in the peaceful Adriatic.
After an exhausting day we will take a ferry boat ride back to Croatia and the lovely Dubrovnik.
