Top 5 Things to Do
For your stay in Dubrovnik we have selected the five top things to do that you shouldn't miss.
1. Walk the City Walls
You cannot go to Dubrovnik without climbing the City Walls. The view is just incredibly beautiful and only from there you will see the secret spots inside the Old Town.
If you visit during the peak of summer season, try to go in the morning or afternoon hours to avoid the midday heat and take some water with you – there are also refreshment points on the walls.
2. Have a drink at Buža Bar
This is definitely one of the most romantic spots – a bar outside the City Walls that can be reached through a hole “Buža” in the walls. While having a nice drink you have a beautiful view at the Adriatic sea and at the island of Lokrum. Follow the wooden “Cold Drinks” signs or ask the locals for directions.
Lokrum is just a short boat ride from the Old City harbor and fascinating enough to spend a whole day there. The boat departs every 30 minutes and the ticket is 50 kuna per person. On the island you will find a botanical garden, a benedictine monastery, a dead sea, and various opportunities to get a refreshment in the shades of the trees. Don't step on the peacocks!
At night, the Stradun becomes a catwalk for locals and tourists. The tradition is to walk the Placa up and down slowly until you catch a free table at the hot spot cafes that are always crowded in the evening. After the heat of the summer day, Stradun will be seen in a different light at night. Become part of the buzzing Old Town nights till the early morning hours.
As soon as you enter the Old City from the Pile Gate you will see a crowd of people to your left standing in front of the wall of the Franciscan Monastery. The attraction is a little stone with a face peaking out of the wall: Your task is to try stand on it without falling or if you are really skilled try to take your shirt off while standing on it. If you make it you will have luck for the rest of the year.
