Congress tourism

istock 000008956231smallOne of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities, and Croatia’s leading congress centre, Dubrovnik hosts a large number of international and Croatian formal gatherings every year. The Dubrovnik hotel capacities, comprising mainly the top quality hotels, have modern premises and equipment for meetings and gatherings for more than one thousand participants, offering exceptional and inspiring working atmosphere and excellent service.

Another attraction for the participants in gatherings and congresses is the ability for organising business meetings in the attractive historical venues, renaissance palaces and medieval forts. The more relaxed parts of the congresses and gatherings will be further enhanced with the selected special events at the top quality restaurants and on the terraces with memorable view of the Adriatic and sunset, and the mild climate enabling the visitors to enjoy the nature throughout the year.

The long time development of tourism in Dubrovnik was followed by the gradual development of congress tourism from the very beginning, because the Dubrovnik Republic hosts had taken a good care of the diplomats, guests, and international visitors to their city. The opening of the Imperial Hotel in 1887 is considered the beginning of the organised tourism, when, according to the city archives, the first international gathering in Dubrovnik took place.
